The Brand Situation
Situated along the picturesque Pawcatuck River, River Bend Cemetery is a unique burial place in Westerly, Rhode Island. River Bend hired Map Agency to create a brand identity system that current families would be proud of, and to design and develop a new website where prospective families can discover what makes the cemetery so special.

Our Role as Guides
With original photography and drone videography, we helped to capture the spirit of the stunning landscape, as well as a fresh perspective of the river and monuments. In other words, we put in motion a landscape that’s stood relatively still for 150 years. During our research, we discovered that River Bend was originally called Elm Grove. The new brand icon is a reference to this historical fact — the mighty Elm emerging from the river in a way that represents growth, strength, and longevity.

Crafting Memorable Marks
After exploring multiple directions, the chosen mark beautifully unites River Bend’s two defining features: the natural growth of its grounds and the flowing river at its border. A secondary monogam can be used as a watermark. Both designs are timeless, ownable, and deeply meaningful.

Capturing the Beauty
Our team produced a comprehensive photo and drone video library covering grounds, architecture, team portraits, and cinematic aerial footage. Together, they provide River Bend a rich visual toolkit for all marketing needs.
